Regulatory framework
The Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (“MiFID”) is the European piece of legislation that impacts upon the way investment services are provided across the European Economic Area. One of MiFID’s main objectives is to provide a high level of investor protection .
MiFID has been incorporated into Cyprus legal order through the Law 144(I) 2007, which came into effect on 1st November 2007. Moreover, the Central Bank of Cyprus has adopted and implemented additional relevant regulations addressed to commercial banks.
