Cyprus Cultural Foundation hosts lecture “Computing the Visible Universe”

The MIT Club of Cyprus is pleased to announce the 2nd MIT Club Lecture, entitled “Computing the Visible Universe”. The lecture will cover applications of supercomputing in scientific research and will describe the development of the first supercomputer facility in Cyprus.  The details of the lecture are below:

Background Information regarding the Speaker:
Constantina Alexandrou received a BA degree in Physics from the University of Oxford in 1980 and a PhD in Theoretical Nuclear Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA in 1985. She held research positions at the Paul Scherer Institute, Switzerland and at Erlangen University, Germany. She is a Professor at the Physics Department of the University of Cyprus, and Institute Professor at the Cyprus Institute. She is the representative of Cyprus at the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics, and at the Partnership of Advanced Computing in Europe (PRACE).
